Overview

ATEX (ATmosphères EXplosibles) zones are high-risk environments commonly found in the oil & gas, mining, and chemical industries. These areas require specialized safety solutions where every component must be explosion-resistant.

Shipyarddoor® ATEX high-speed doors are engineered specifically for use in explosive atmospheres, with all mechanical and electrical components carefully selected and designed to minimize ignition risk. Our doors comply with EN 60079-10 and NPR 7910 standards for ATEX zones.

With decades of experience, Shipyarddoor® is committed to delivering reliable, high-quality solutions where safety is critical—because when it comes to explosion protection, safety isn’t optional—it’s essential.

Comprised of

  • 24/7 Operations:
ATEX high speed roll up door system manages personnel and machinery access in high-risk explosive environments
  • ATex door is equipped with special sealing equipment. Compact design, excellent sealing to reduce leakage of gas or explosive materials. All insulation rubber and sealing material is specially chosen from anti-static material.
  • Fabric:
The door is manufactured using POLYMAR A-LUTTE® fabric from Mehler Textile GmbH, selected for long service life and ATEX compliance. The material offers high UV resistance, industrial fire resistance, and anti-static properties (<1 × 10⁸ Ω), with a weight of 680 g/m², thickness of 1–2 mm, and 1100 Dtx reinforcement.
  • Fire Resistance:
The fabric meets fire safety regulations in accordance with NFP 92-507: M2 standards. It is difficult to ignite and self-extinguishing once the ignition source is removed, providing enhanced fire safety performance.
  • Wind resistance:
ATEX Roll up Doors is designed internal applications standard wind resistance 40 km/h and Class 2 Annex ZA- (EN 13241:2011).
  • Maximum Dimensions:
ATEX high speed roll up door can be manufactured up to 4500X4500 mm. Big door requirements can be arranged.
  • Applications:
ATEX doors are suitable for industrial buildings with explosive atmospheres, defined as mixtures of gases, vapours, mist, or dust with air that can propagate combustion after ignition.
  • Safety Components:
The ATEX door is equipped with enhanced safety systems due to its high sensitivity, making safety the highest priority in its design. It is manufactured in full compliance with the ATEX Directive 99/92/EC (ATEX 137 – Workplace Directive) under applicable EN standards.
  • Gearbox system:
The motor, gearbox, and brake are critical components of the ATEX high-speed door and are selected for low maintenance, high durability, and reduced spare-part costs. Motor power ranges from 1 HP to 3 HP, operating at 380–440 V, 3-phase, depending on door size, with 3-phase power preferred for 24/7 industrial use; a 220 V single-phase option is available for special applications. The system uses a high-torque worm-gear gearbox and is fully manufactured in accordance with ATEX II 2G EEx d k/c e IIC T4 / II 2D T125°C standards.
  • Speed:
ATEX high speed roll up door can be operated as a standard 40 cm /sec also can be increased 150 cm/sec with frequency converter (optional).
  • Operations:
The ATEX Rollup fabric door moves along weather-sealed vertical guides attached to the structure. It is operated via three buttons — “Open,” “Close,” and “Stop” — with momentary pressure to open and constant pressure to close (reversible if needed). The system includes a touchless control board for cleanroom use and can optionally be operated via radar, remote controller, metallic loop detectors, or pull-rope switch.

    Loop Detectors:
Together with the inductive loops laid beneath the surface, the LC series loop detectors form a universal sensor system for detecting vehicles and forklifts. People are not detected.

    Infrared Radar:
Opening impulse sensor for automatic doors and industrial doors, Motion sensor for people and objects.

    Remote Controller:
Is a component of an electronic device to operate the device with radio frequency from a long distance (25 m up to 100 m).
  • Manual Operation:
In emergencies or power outages, the door can be operated manually using a hand crank attached to the motor shaft (standard). Optionally, the door can be connected to a backup generator to maintain operation during power failures.
  • Control Board:
The control board is designed to CE 94/9/EC and NEMA ICS 2 standards to operate 3-phase motors via a rotary switch and is suitable for ZONE II ATEX areas (III 2G Ex d IIB Gb / II 2D Ex tb IIIC T100°C IP67). It includes emergency button, circuit breakers, and optional warning light and buzzer, with plug-in technology for universal spare parts. Optional versions include frequency converter control boards with touchless buttons and single-phase operator control boards.
