Shipyarddoor® is a vertical-lifting fabric hangar door built for extreme industrial environments with no height or width limitations. Originally developed for shipyards in the 1980s and introduced to Turkey in 2003, it now serves across airports, shipyards, and mining sectors. Designed for high durability, it performs in harsh conditions like dust, extreme temperatures, and high altitudes. Unlike conventional doors, it requires low maintenance and offers tailored solutions such as crane or sound-insulated doors.   • 24/7 Operations:
    The Flexible Giant mining hangar door has excessive durability . Hangar doors can be operated 24 X 7 specially by selecting high resistance fabric and gearbox system for continuous operations.

    Flexible Giant hangar doors doesn’t require special maintenance as all parts are carefully selected for low maintenance. There are no springs, ball-bearing or couplings that can be damaged from dust or similar effect even if anything crashed or collides with the door.

Comprised of:

  • Steel Structure:
    The door uses two fabric panels folding in opposite directions, mounted on steel or aluminum beams. At 600mm thick, it offers excellent sealing and wind resistance. Motorized intermediate beams retract fully without blocking the opening. Self-lubricating polyamide tires ensure smooth operation, even in dusty or harsh conditions.
  • Bottom Beams:
    Bottom beam is designed according to wind resistance, dimension of the doors and, to carry load of intermediate steel beams during door operations. Bottom beam also supply full closing and sealing in heavy wind conditions.
  • Side Guides:
    Shipyarddoor Flexible Giant® mining hangar door w vertical guides are made of structural steel with a suitable depth and width depending on the size of intermediate beams. Guides are designed to provide weather-sealing between door and door frame. Side guides are designed and manufactured for easy replaceable in case of damage. Aluminum rails are fixed with bolt to steel structure.
  • Cable System:
    Shipyarddoor operates with up to two steel cables per door, routed inside the guides with kink-free installation and sheaves sized to prevent abnormal stress during use.
  • Fabric:
    Our VALMEX POLYMAR® industrial fabric (900–1500g/m², 2mm thick, 1100 Dtex B 6000) offers exceptional UV and fire resistance, with tensile strength of 4300/4000N and tear strength of 500/500N; Arctic and Sound-Resistant options are also available
  • Fire Resistance:
    The standard fabric meets DIN 4102-B1 fire safety standards, making it difficult to ignite and self-extinguishing when the flame source is removed—ideal for mining environments.
  • Sealing:
    Bottom beams use U-shaped cellular rubber seals, while side guides feature either cellular rubber or brush seals, all rated for extreme cold and heat resistance.
  • Speed:
    Standard opening/closing speed is 20 cm/sec, with optional systems reaching up to 40 cm/sec for faster operation.
  • Insulation Data:
    The standard Shipyarddoor Flexible Giant mining hangar door offers excellent insulation with a thermal U-value of <0.9W/m²·K and optional sound attenuation of 12dB(A).
  • Wind Resistance:
    Built to handle wind loads up to 140km/h during operation and 180km/h when closed, with optional upgrades for hurricane-rated doors tolerating up to 230km/h.
  • Structural Loading:
    Engineered to resist dead load, seismic forces, and wind pressure/suction based on site-specific environmental and structural conditions.
  • Load Arrestors & Wind Locks:
    Equipped with patented load arrestors and wind locks, the system prevents door drop in case of failure and keeps the door secure in high-wind conditions; integrated safety switches cut power if slack is detected.
  • Driving Unit and Limit Switches:
    Dual lifting motors for balanced operation—if one fails, the other keeps the door running. Motors and switches are positioned above the door and built to handle extreme mining conditions. Limit switches on both sides stop the door at full open or closed positions, with additional safety switches for both upward and downward travel. Slack rope sensors and top-beam triggers add redundancy.
  • Safety:
    All doors meet CE standards, including EN 13241-1:2003+A1:2011 and EN 12978:2008. Standard safety features include load arrestors, wind locks, thermal resistance, warning lights, and buzzers. Optional bottom-edge and pneumatic safety edge systems are available for enhanced protection.
